Hi

Just wondered if anyone could give me any tips on how they dry or style their hair when their arms are bad. Sometimes when my arms are bad i just leave it as its the least of my worries but sometimes i really do look like i've been dragged through a hedge backwards! Scared

My mum said she saw an advert for a hairdryer that goes in a stand and you can move the position about so that you don't have to keep your arms in the air, just wondered if anyone had tried one?

Even washing my hair is a nightmare when I'm like this.

Any tips or advice would be great. Smile

Thank you
Lou x

Hi Lou,

I'm with you on this one, I have waist-length hair and have trouble putting it up and drying it so have been washing as best I can and then leaving it to dry naturally. The hairdryer on a stand sounds like a good idea. My Mum currently has a broken shoulder and has managed to tie her hairdryer to her exercise bike handlebars to dry her hair! I was thinking of putting a bracket (well, getting my brother to!) on the wall for her hairdryer and doing the same for mine.

Nightmare isn't it. I did try to leave it to dry naturally but it goes really wavy and not a nice wavy! But I might have a look into the stand idea.

I must admit that I do the drowned rat look for a couple of hours until it drys naturally. Luckily (I never thought I'd say that!!!) I have dead straight hair that won't curl / wave even if you want it to so it is fine when it dries naturally - it jsut stays straight.

Also wanted to say, I find bobbles really hard to do in my daughters hair. Clips are much easier.

I can squeeze a bit and a clip once squeezed is in- the bobble is lots of fiddling, squeezing and then I drop half the hair anyway!

those banana clips are good!

Don't tell anyone but i have sort of removed the problem ... had a reasonable day today so have now got a number 2 haircut ;)
Killed my arms and took ages but will stop all the effort in the shower :)
Not recommended for everyone ;)

Like Rich i too have sort of removed the problem. As anyone on here who has met me will know my hair is very short, and i just wash and leave it, i have it cut once a month. Sometimes i do think of changing my hairdresser, but most hair salons now have back wash sinks and no front wash sink, and the back wash sinks are no good for ra necks! Another problem people don't think about.

I used to struggle with hair bobbles when Elizabeth was young, for a while she had her hair cut into a bob which made it easier to manage until she was old enough to do her own hair. One thing with having a parent with ra is that children soon learn to do things for themselves at a young age!Smile

Likewise! Keep my hair short, shower it, comb it, let it dry! I even go all out and spike it with gel sometimes!!!

The Bettelife long reach comb and brush are ergonomically designed and carefully balanced to provide ease of use with minimal effort and strain. Both the comb and the brush are shaped to follow the curve of the head, allowing the handle to...

Hi every one Was interested to read all the comments about hair,my arms dont go above my shoulders so a mobile hairdresser comes once a week. When I brush my hair daily I use a brush which is in two parts so I can get to the back of my head the brush is dark blue plastic with a bright orange head with thick teeth which leaves tramlines in my hair.I would love a bristle brush which is a bit stylishand maybe a small version to go in a handbag. It seem a lot of disabled aids are not nice to look at maybe they feel we dont want to be feminine any more ,or am Ibeing too picky! Just in case I dont get online before Christmas can I wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful and painless as possible New Year. Nina
